Physical Education
The Physical Education Department seeks to provide a solid foundation towards the aim of “Life skills through Physical Education and Sport”

This overall aim is consistent with how the school seeks to involve its students in healthy and active participation in sport outside of curriculum time.
CurriculumLower School: A broad range of individual and team activities are covered teaching basic techniques, tactics, aspects of fitness and health-related areas, extending into higher levels of technical skill teaching and greater opportunity for leadership in the Third Form.
GCSE: An optional examination course where pupils are assessed in four practical activities and study theoretical components of sport and health related areas.
IB: This course is being planned for introduction within the next three years as international pilot schemes are completed and a suitable syllabus is prepared for teaching.
We work in conjunction with the individual sports and related activities to provide trips to sporting events. Some of these excursions are specific to parts of exam syllabus requirements. There are regular sports tours in the UK and further afield.
Outreach: The department is working to develop its leadership of young people through sport by offering a sports leadership course to some of the more senior pupils as the I.B. course develops and students are required to evidence their involvement in service to others.
