The aims of the department are to help pupils to:

  • religions represented in Great Britain;
  • enhance their own spiritual, moral, cultural and social development;

In the Lower School, pupils study The Bible; Old Testament Studies; a study of Judaism and the Life and Work of Jesus and inspirational figures. In the Third Form this extends to a study of Islam; The Early Church and the growth of Christianity.

All pupils in the GCSE Years will follow the OCR Religious Studies - Philosophy and Applied Ethics course, with eight topics of study, including: Religion and its relationship to Human Relationships, Medical Ethics, Poverty and Wealth, Peace and Justice and Science.

Every year trips are arranged for the First Form to Reading Synagogue and Wintershall - The life of Christ play.
